What's on your mind?
I thought that it would be a good idea to make a fanon page for FTB. Nominate yourself and use the FTB template to enclose your codes. Unenclosed codes will be deleted. I will moderate the page.
Wikia staff, feel free to change this. :)
While there hasn't been a lot of commotion recently, much has gone on behind the scenes & big changes may soon take effect on our wiki. Dig in!
Our Arras.io coverage is now approaching a consistent basic standard, largely thanks to the efforts of JustLeafy in reducing stubs. Kudos to him! However, there are still a few left — go to Category:Stubs to see them & help expand them. There is a live stub percentage count coded in the page. In addition, the effort to clean up Diep and especially Arras pages continues, as many require grammatical and formatting consistency and/or factual correction. See the cleanup pages at Category:Cleanup!
Tags.js, the script that controls our user header tags like "Councilor", "Verified", & "Moderator", has finally been fixed.
CategoryCommunityModules.js has been installed by TheGoldenPatrik1, making the Special:Community modules better by listing pages from categories instead of the default special pages unsuited for our wiki. Check out the new & improved page!
While there are no major focused projects at the moment, be sure to go to the community portal at Special:Community to find areas for attention, and stay tuned for new events!
On a serious note, Forums will be closing across Fandom soon. According to recent staff blogs, Fandom expects to close the now outdated and difficult to maintain feature by mid-January, as Discussions has become a viable replacement. As this may be one of the last WUs before then, I recommend that you all leave your thoughts and suggestions for a smooth transition away from Forums, considering our wiki heavily uses them — especially for games.
Further down the road, Fandom is building a new platform called the Unified Community Platform to unite both Fandom and Gamepedia wikis under the same software, as detailed in the staff blog linked in the last bullet. There's no word about when it'll be ready, but it sure sounds exciting!
(yup i'm calling them wiki updates again lol)
This month has been more quiet, but the wiki chugs on nevertheless! Here's some of what's happened and what's planned:
Our Arras.io coverage continues to improve, with more users taking up the mantle and actively helping to better our articles on the game to an encyclopedic standard on par with our Diep.io pages.
On a similar note, JustLeafy, an active Fandom contributor and fellow member of the Community Council, has started editing here more actively! He's already become a Sentinel and Code Admin, and will no doubt be an invaluable editor aiding our constant progress.
Less positively, Kaznith resigned recently after a period of inactivity and difficulty in accessing Fandom.
We have a new font! After numerous attempts over the years at changing up the font were rejected by the community, a suitable font was finally discovered in Source Sans Pro, a humanist-influenced American gothic-style grotesque sans-serif open source typeface designed by Paul D. Hunt under Adobe Systems for use in user interfaces (I'm a font nerd).
More minor miscellaneous updates were made to various places on the wiki, such as the welcome message, the Community Corner, RailWAM, and the main page welcome banner to name a few. Lots has happened behind the scenes!
While there are no major focused projects at the moment, be sure to go to the Community Portal to find areas for attention, and stay tuned for new events!
On that note, one of the upcoming projects is to update the "Proofread" and "Expand" modules on Special:Community, aka the Community Portal, to get their content from the relevant Cleanup and Stub categories, rather than Special:PopularPages and Special:ShortPages which are ill-suited to our custom namespaces. Be on the lookout for a further enhanced Community Portal!
While progress was slow at first, the wiki's been picking up recently. Here's an update on what's new from the past month and what's next for the wiki:
Arras:Tiers was expanded through a wiki-wide project. Many users participated, quickly completing the Arras counterpart to our most popular page on the wiki, Tiers. In the end, Batty1776 took home the grand prize with an amazing sum of 66 tank summaries written, plus extensive help in setting up the page layout and sections.
The main page was improved, with more minimalistic styling, the inclusion of an all-new Arras Module putting it and Fanon side-by-side, a Social module replacing the previous Discussions + Discord modules, and a new Editing module intended to help new users participate in the wiki.
Editor of the Month was reintroduced, with the accolade's latest recipient being Anonymoususer12321 for his activity in projects and invaluable image contributions.
We have a new Wiki Manager to better connect us with Fandom Staff & advise the community! Atvelonis of The Elder Scrolls Wiki is a fellow Councilor and friends with Ursuul and I. He's even commented here before a few times! I have nothing but high hopes for the future with him as a liaison and advisor.
While the previous goal of improving Arras content to a standard where we can include it in the navigation and Main Page is now complete, we still have work to do. Arras:Game Modes especially needs expansion and proofreading.
As usual, go to the Community Portal for projects and areas for attention, and stay tuned for new events!
