The Anti-Tank Machine Gun[1], also known simply as Anti-Tank or the ATMG, is an AI-Tank exclusively found in Siege, Soccer, Tetromino, Nexus and Grudge Ball (there was a layout in Blackout that had an ATMG at the top left room.) gamemodes. It was added on December 9th, 2020. This tank has only one purpose, which is to terminate any tanks that somehow got out of the playable area.

Design[]

The Anti-Tank Machine Gun appears like a miniaturized Gunner Dominator, having three small barrels in a similar arrangement to the Triplet, overlapped with a trapezoid base, and its red circular body has a black hexagonal base/shell underneath, similar to to the one used by the Mega-Smasher. However, it also has two extra turrets with similar setup from its sides, connected by a long trapezoid that slightly slims from the main body. These connected turrets rotate along as the Anti-Tank turns as well. Autospin is always turned on for this tank, unless it's shooting.

Technical[]

The Anti-Tank Machine Gun’s main purpose is to prevent players from wandering outside the playable area. They are immobile and have an infinite FOV. Several of them are strategically placed outside the maze wall, shooting down any trespassers with tiny but fast bullets that deal extremely high damage, comparable to that of an Arena Closer. The extra turrets seem to be able to aim separately from the main cannons, but mostly prefer attacking a single target.

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: Everything.
  • Weak Against: Dev Tanks (only when static), Arena Closers (If tested).
  • Anti-Tank Machine Guns are never meant to be fought. They can be killed only by developer or Beta Tester tanks. They only serve to discourage players from wandering outside the playable areas of gamemodes and terminate any tanks that were brave enough to do so.
  • You can use the Anti-Tank Machine Guns to kill yourself in the Nexus mode, allowing you to change tank if needed.

Trivia[]

  • Their addition might be a solution against players who abuse the Spike’s high-speed bouncing ability when colliding with one another, as they are known to be able to get past the walls due to a glitch.
    • However, some players were still able to survive outside the walls due to the non-uniform generation of the walls in the old versions of Siege. The reworked Siege made it so they are stationed on strategical locations that prevent any players from surviving them.
    • Despite an update removing Spike from the Smasher branch for Siege, Anti-Tank Machine Guns still remained on the game, mostly due to another glitch involving low-level tanks being able to slip through the walls.
  • If a player gets near enough to an Anti-Tank Machine Gun, its fast bullets get past the player and don't damage it.
  • As of the recent version of Siege, only the X-Hunter can see the Anti-Tank Machine Gun from the borders of the inside of the Siege map because it's zoom ability allows it to see all of the Anti-Tank Machine Gun.
    • Ranger can also see it due to its high FoV. However, Ranger only has enough FoV to see the side cannons of Anti-Tank Machine Gun.
      • In Arms Race versions of Siege, Anti-Tank Machine Guns are entirely visible to people using the Vindicator (An Arms Race tank upgraded from Ranger) due to the highly expanded FoV of the tank.
  • The Anti-Tank is not immortal due to its health being very low.
