Latest revision as of 00:54, 5 April 2023

The Death Screen is a miscellaneous feature in Diep.io that was added on July 10th. The Death Screen is displayed after you die. It displays the tank you last used, your Score, time alive and the entity that killed you. It will also spectate the entity that killed you.

Content

It currently shows:

  • The name of the user who killed you, under the phrase “You were killed by: (tank name)”.
    • Unnamed killers and Base Drones (As they lack an in-game name) will be shown as “An unnamed tank” in this section.
      • They will also provide a special message: “They seem to prefer to keep an air of mystery about them”.
    • If you are killed by going into a Polygon it will be appropriately identified by its name, with an exception.
      • Green Polygons will not be distinguished from regular ones, e.g. a Green Square will be referred to simply as a Square.
  • How long you survived (in hours, minutes, and seconds).
  • Your Score.
  • Your Level.
  • Your Class, including a still image of the class and its official name.
  • Spectating the entity that killed you (On the death spectator screen), until it dies.
    • When the entity you are spectating dies, the camera will stay where the enemy died.
  • A Light Blue-coloured button which has to be clicked in order to respawn.

Trivia

  • When it was first released, the Death Screen said that you have played for 60 hours before dying. Later that day, it got patched.
  • Due to a bug, if a Tank died and its remaining Bullets/Traps destroyed other tanks, to the latter their player will receive a death message stating that they were killed by “An unnamed tank”, no matter how the ammo’s original owner was named. This is because ammo is tied to their owner and when the owner dies, it is no longer connected to the owner anymore.
  • Before Polygons were given their in-game names, they were referred to as “An unnamed tank” in the death screens. This bug was fixed in the August 21st update.
    • Similar things happened when players were kicked off the Mothership because time was up. This was also fixed in the August 21st update(Revision needed), and removed with the removal of Mothership Game Mode.
  • Before the Death Screen, when a Tank killed you, it would only lead to an empty translucent screen, following the person that killed you. Pressing Enter would take you back to the naming screen.
  • There was a bug (now fixed) that made the Death Screen zoom out, and make it look like a minimap.

This section contains bugs related to Death Screen. Before adding a bug to this list, consider the following:

  1. Please screenshot, then reload. If the bug happens a second time, then get a second screenshot to verify that the bug is still happening.
  2. If the bug is still occurring, please post the bug report with the appropriate system template.
  3. Describe the bug in detail, but avoid having conversations in the description and/or using first-person-anecdotes: such discussions belong in either the comment section or on the appropriate forum board.

Patched Bugs

  •  PC  If a person dying in-game had an Ad Blocker enabled, the death screen would fail to render, causing a game crash.
