The Charge Shot is a Tier 2 tank conceptualized by Onett4smash and contributed to by Raspbelle as part of the Defend the Center game mode. It upgrades from the Tank at level 15 and upgrades to the Flurry, Blaster and Ramper at level 30.
Design[]
The Charge Shot uses a Charge Cannon, which looks the same as a regular Cannon, but the hull of the tank has a charge meter on it that shows the exact charge level of the tank.
Technical[]
The Charge Shot can hold down left click to charge up its bullet. At full charge, the arrow on the charge meter will point to the yellow and the tank will flash. Releasing will fire a stronger, faster bullet with greater range. Without charging, the player needs to repeatedly click the mouse button to fire uncharged shots, which are slower and weaker, but can be fired out with a faster reload. The Auto-Fire toggle now has two options: No Charge and Full Charge. No Charge will constantly fire shots without charging them, and Full Charge will charge shots and fire them 0.5 seconds after reaching maximum charge. Upon reaching full charge, the charge can be held indefinitely as long as the mouse button is held.
The Charge Shot's charge system is binary; it can only either fire bullets with no charge or full charge. Firing at any charge other than full, such as half charge, will fire a no charge bullet instead. Overall, the DPS of the charged bullets is greater than the uncharged bullets. Upgrading the Reload stat boosts charge speed as well as standard reload.
Strategy[]
- The Charge Shot can fire bullets without charge to defeat weaker enemies, and use fully charged bullets to deal with stronger enemies.
- Not charging will greatly increase the firing speed of the Charge Shot, letting it be more effective against groups of weak enemies.
- The Charge Shot has increased recoil on its full charge bullet. This makes it better for traversal.
- The fully charged bullet has increased speed, making it better at taking out enemies from range and making hitting shots easier.
- You can hold a charge indefinitely, though it is not very useful for the Charge Shot in particular as it does not take very long to charge its bullets.
- The Full Charge mode for Auto-Fire technically does not deal the maximum DPS as it has to wait 0.5 seconds after reaching full charge before firing each bullet. If you are skilled enough, you can fire charged bullets at a faster rate than this and output more damage.
