Expansion is a 1-team fanmade Arras gamemode by TheTriplet. It focuses on shooting the walls to knock them away, increasing the rectangle's area, and protecting the 2 bases so the rectangle doesn't shrink. The map size is as big as a normal FFA map.

Gameplay[]

The game starts with the spawn in the center of the map inside a very small square. Shooting on the sides (gray areas) pushes the wall away depending on the damage, making the playable area bigger (the rectangle). Shooting on the corners (red areas) pushes both walls away, but they get 3x less knockback. The goal for the players is to increase the size of the rectangle to the size of the whole map (win condition).

The bosses from Siege also appear in this mode, along with one team (co-op). Polygons, bosses etc. can pass through the walls (players can't). Bosses go to the center of the map where the 2 bases are, and try to destroy them. Once any of the two bases is destroyed, the rectangle starts slowly shrinking, and a red square appears (half the size of the playable area excluding the walls) in the middle of the map. If both bases are destroyed, the rectangle shrinks 2 times faster.

If the rectangle's walls touch the red area, the players lose and the arena closes. However, bosses only appear about a quarter the way in, and the stronger ones get spawned the further the game progresses. There are also spawners on the walls that spawn Crashers, and rarely, Sentries.

Bases[]

There are two bases at the center of the map, one on the left, and one on the right. They have 4 evenly-spaced normal Barrels, and are always spinning no matter what. All cannons shoot when the Base needs to (bosses, tanks if destroyed). All cannons are the Domination gamemode's destroyer barrels.

The bases have as much HP as double the ones in Siege, making it harder for both bosses to destroy them and players to restore them. Unlike Siege however, when the base is destroyed, it's red and also starts shooting at players.

Spawners[]

On the walls, there are also spawners that spawn Crashers. The spawners shoot out at a rate of one per second, and only shoot when a player has the center of it in its FOV. Rarely (1 in 10 chance) it also shoots out Sentries. The bigger the rectangle, the more spawners there are. At the beginning of the game, there are no spawners.

Strategies[]

  • Since shooting at the corners enlarges the rectangle less than shooting on the sides, avoid shooting at the corners.
  • When the arena starts shrinking, immediately go to the center. A fast tank or a tank with a lot of recoil would be useful for this.
    • The Annihilator is the best for this; it has lots of recoil and lots of damage, even better if you upgrade Movement Speed to the max.
  • When you need to regenerate, get away from the sides. They have spawners which spawn Sentries and Crashers at a fast speed, which can further damage yourself, or even kill you.

Trivia[]

  • There also is a 2-teams version of this, called Expansion 2TDM.
  • The reason there's my name at the end of the article name is because Fanon:Expansion is a deleted article and I could possibly get in trouble for recreating it.
