The Mutant is a Tier 4 tank conceptualized by Onett4smash and contributed to by Raspbelle as part of the Defend the Center game mode. It upgrades from the Poisoner and Overseer at level 45.
Design[]
A Virus.
The Mutant has six Spawners, which spawn a unique drone type known as Viruses. The Viruses spawned are similar to the Battleship's Partisans, particularly in size, but leave behind trails of poison puddles.
Technical[]
The Mutant spawns hordes of viruses. Half of them are uncontrollable and automatically target enemies, while half of them are controlled with the mouse. Like other Overseer-branch tanks, left clicking will pull the viruses towards the cursor and right clicking will repel them from the cursor. The viruses leave behind trails of poison puddles as they move. Compared to the Battleship's partisans, the viruses are weaker in terms of damage, but their puddles can still deal lots of damage and cover a wide area. Drone Health and Damage also affect the puddle time and damage of the poison puddles. The viruses despawn after a few seconds like the partisans.
The Mutant can detect cloaked enemies.
Strategy[]
- The Mutant is not a particularly offensive drone tank, as its viruses are weak and deal minimal damage. It instead excels in area control and support.
- The Mutant can assist fights from further away by pestering the enemy with swarms of viruses that also cover the battlefield in poison puddles.
- If taking an enemy on, the Mutant should aim to damage them with the poison puddles rather than the drones themselves. They can manouevre the viruses around the enemy or in front of them to leave behind poison puddles that the enemy is forced to travel through and take damage from.
- Despite their frailty, a large enough swarm of viruses can deal a good amount of damage to an enemy with head-on ramming. This should only be done as a finisher, since it leaves the Mutant without viruses for a while.
