The Smasher Extended Branch is a Ultimate extension of Smasher Branch. It get more stronger stats, meaning it would be harder to kill it.

The Tanks in this Branch[]

Smasher[]

The Smasher is a Tier 3 tank in Diep.io. It upgrades from the Tank at level 30 and upgrades to the Landmine, Auto Smasher, Spike, and formerly Mega Smasher at level 45.

Design[]

The Smasher features a circular body placed on a black hexagon, like a Dominator except with no Barrels or Launchers, and much smaller. Unlike the majority of classes, the Smasher has no Barrels or weapons of any kind, instead, it uses itself as its weapon. The black hexagon automatically spins.

Technical[]

Without a Barrel, the Smasher has no ranged capabilities; therefore, its only means of damage is to melee or smash into other tanks, hence its name, Smasher. Since the tank can only fight by ramming, any upgrades which directly affect Bullets will be removed as they have no effect on the current tank, and any upgrade points spent on those upgrades will be returned to the player once the tank has become a Smasher, which by then the only upgrades available are Health Regeneration, Max Health, Body Damage, and Movement Speed, each which can be applied a maximum of 10 upgrade points. To improve its melee capabilities, the Smasher has a faster Movement Speed (maximum 10 points comparing to normal 7), as well as a greater field of vision than the Tank. At Level 45, it can upgrade into the Landmine that can turn invisible, the Auto Smasher, which gains an uncontrollable Auto Turret, or the Spike, which has greater base Body Damage. As the smasher, Spike and/or Landmine maxing out health, body damage and speed is highly suited as health regeneration is not as necessary/vital to harnessing the full advantage of melee capabilities.

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: Slow tanks, tanks with a low rate of fire, other non-Smasher rammer classes.
  • Weak Against: Faster tanks, Destroyer branch tanks, tanks with high Reload and focused fire (like the Triplet, for example).

As the Smasher[]

  • Avoid tanks with drones as their ammo as their high damage can easily kill even maxed-out health Smashers. If the player is experienced, they can lure the drones away and return while the Overseer/Overlord has its drones away from itself. However, most Overseer/Overlords know better than to do so, so the player should flee if their attempt fails. Tanks with a high RoF(Rate of Fire) must be avoided too as their Bullet knockback will keep the Smasher at bay and potentially drain health. Avoid Trappers, as they can drain the player's health.
  • Engaging Fighters or Boosters are very dangerous, as they can easily outrun you and kill you with bullets.
  • Player risk getting killed ramming another Smasher if they both are at max health and have Max Health and Body Damage at the same level. Health Regeneration matters in this case as it will regenerate a tiny bit while Smashers are in contact.
  • Avoid smashing into entities with big health bars like the Alpha Pentagons and the Bosses unless they have just a little health left.
  • Attack cornered or unaware tanks.
  • Destroyers are faster than the Smasher if they use their gun’s recoil, so it is best to catch them off guard.
  • Farming, especially in the Pentagon Nest, is perhaps the safest and quickest way to level up until the player reaches Level 45, as few tanks beyond low-Level ones are especially susceptible to this class. Beware, however, as a swarm of Crashers can do greatly reduced its health if it is too low.
  • It is useful to upgrade all Bullet Stats and farm until Level 30, run away from the crowded areas to a space, upgrade to Smasher, and all Bullets Stats will transfer to skill points, so that the player can decide again which Stats should be fit for their rammer build.
  • Try and locate opponents with your higher FoV, and then suddenly run onto their screen from the top or bottom. This will give you the element of surprise.

Against the Smasher[]

  • Tanks with a high DPS rate can prevent the Smasher from attacking the player since the high damage and bullet knockback will slow down the Smasher; allowing the defending player to flee.
  • Overseer branch tanks are effective against the Smasher since the drones can deal a very high amount of damage; it is best to keep the player’s drones close to themselves in case a Smasher attacks.
  • One of the best counters against the Smasher is to be aware of its presence. If one quickly reacts to the presence of this tank, then it will almost always fail to deal damage and kill the player.
  • Trappers are also extremely effective as the Smasher has no way to knock back the traps without taking damage.
  • Destroyer class tanks are also effective as their bullets can do massive damage and kill Smashers in just two or three hits.

History[]

  • The developer previously wanted the Smasher to be a secret tank branch, however, many have already found it and it has been revealed in the Changelog after everyone realized its existence.
  • This used to decrease knockback, but that was removed from every Smasher-branch tank in the August 7th update.
  • Once the upgrade is achieved, the skill upgrade screen is changed so that the Bullet-related upgrade bars would read “Upgrade to Windows 10”. This is probably a nod to Microsoft’s shady upgrade tactics and the alleged uselessness of the operating system. It may also be because that was the last day to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. However, it has been removed in the July 31st Update.
  • The Smasher used to upgrade to Mega Smasher but was removed in the August 7th update because its only improvement from Smasher was even more resistance to knockback, which was removed from the Smashers in that update.
  • As of 7th of August, when this class has been chosen by the player, the Bullet stats completely disappear. The remaining stats have a bigger max level (10 points instead of 7).

Trivia[]

Auto smasher ingame icon upscale

A high-quality in-game Auto Smasher icon acquired by manipulating the "diep-native" canvas element. Examining the picture up close around the Auto Turret, one may notice that the shell is rotated counterclockwise with respect to the Auto Turret.

  • It is the first pure melee class, having nothing but Body Damage to defend itself.
  • It, alongside the Auto Trapper, Battleship, and Glider are the only tanks to have a dark blue background on their icon. It is also the only Tier 3 tank to have a dark blue background on the icon.
  • A Level 45 Smasher with fully upgraded Max Health and Body Damage has 338 HP.
  • This is one of the seven tanks that automatically has auto spin activated, the others being the Landmine, Mega Smasher(removed), Spike, Auto Smasher, Auto 3 and Auto 5.
  • If one accidentally upgrades stat points to one of the Bullet Stats, upon upgrading to Smasher the stats will become stat points again.
  • The Smasher is one of only two tanks to skip a Tier to be upgraded (Level 1 - 30). The other is the Sprayer (Level 15 - 45).
  • After the new color scheme update, the Smasher was rotated by about 30 degrees clockwise upon upgrading.
  • The old color scheme borders have the same color as the shell that the Smasher branch features.
  • On the legacy mobile version, any tank branching off from the Smasher including itself once upgraded to, the shoot button would disappear. However, if one is to touch the button as if it is there, the minimap showing the direction of the player would still move despite the button being invisible.
  • The edge of Smasher's shell does not line up with its body. At level 1 scale, where the radius of the tank body is 50 units (50 units equaling the side length of one background grid tile) the distance from the center of the body to the shell's edge is approximately 49.796 units.
  • Smasher's shell is rotated slightly counterclockwise with respect to where the front of the tank should be in its upgrade icon and the class tree. This can be easily seen in the Auto Smasher upgrade icon, shown to the right.

Mega Smasher[]

The Mega Smasher was a Tier 4 tank in Diep.io. It upgraded from the Smasher at level 45. Its main difference from the Smasher was its added knockback reduction. On August 7th, it was removed after the knockback reduction was added to all Smasher branches.

Design[]

The Mega Smasher looked very similar to the normal Smasher but had a much larger outer hull, which was about 1.13 times as big as Smasher's hull.

Technical[]

Like the Smasher, it suffered less knockback from projectiles, but had more knockback resistance than the Smasher, as well as being far more durable. However, it was slightly slower than the Smasher. Due to the slower Movement Speed, some players preferred not to upgrade, and instead stuck with the Smasher, or upgraded to the Landmine for its ability to turn Invisible. Like the rest of the tanks in the Smasher branch, its Stats could be upgraded up to 10. However, like the other Smashers, it could only have points in Movement Speed, Health Regeneration, Max Health, and Body Damage.

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: Slow Tanks, Snipers, Smasher and Landmine and low health tank.
  • Weak Against: Bullet Spammers such as the Triplet or Sprayer, Drone classes like the Overseer and Overlord and Destroyer

As the Mega Smasher[]

  • Similar strategies to the Smasher apply; avoid Overseers and Overlords.
  • Attack cornered or unaware tanks.
  • Mega Smashers were perfect guards/teammates for any tank with high coverage, such as the Penta Shot or Octo Tank, as well as Overseers & Overlords, as their weakness is a lack of defense.
  • Mega Smashers could outmatch all non-Smasher body build tanks, the main problem being slower speeds, so it was advisable to invest upgrade points in Movement Speed.
  • Bullet Spammers are very hard to ram, it is best to keep away from them.

Against the Mega Smasher[]

  • Bullet spammers were very effective against this tank, as they spam a large number of bullets in a short amount of time, overwhelming the Mega Smasher. This works best if they have a focused fire tank, like the Triplet or the Sprayer.
  • Overseer and its branches could make light work of this tank. An Overlord with maxed out reload can easily kill this tank.
  • Destroyer and its upgrades can kill this tank easily. All they need to do is use their recoil to boost towards the Mega Smasher, then hit it with two bullets, which will kill the tank.
  • Tri-angle and its upgrades can fight this tank if they are using a glass cannon build. However, they should back away if they are using a rammer build.
  • When upgrading to Mega Smasher, the only buff the Smasher gets is increased knockback reduction. Therefore, a Level 45 Smasher is acceptable against this tank.

Trivia[]

  • Due to the thicker hexagonal shell, this tank looked like the largest playable tank in the game.
    • However, its hitbox is the same size as a Level 45 tank.
  • Like the Smasher, the developers originally wanted this to be a secret tank branch, but after everyone realized its existence, they revealed it in the Changelog and added another upgrade alongside it, Landmine.
  • The most likely replacement for this class is the Spike since it has increased body damage.
  • This is the second class removed from the game. The Mega Smasher was removed because the knockback reduction ability of the Smasher branch was removed, rendering the Mega Smasher a completely useless Upgrade, as its only purpose was to increase knockback reduction.
  • The tank makes a reappearance in Arras and Woomy Arras IO, functioning identically to this version.
  • Mega Smasher can be found inside the legacy mobile version's asset from version 1.2.0 to 1.3.0. However, it went unused and never got added to the actual game.

Giga Smasher[]

The Giga Smasher is a tank that starts unadded smasher branch, extending it. It also have knockback reduction, like Mega Smasher and Smasher. Due more than 1 year diep.io not added tank, there no tank suggestions.

Design[]

The Giga Smasher look like other smashers, but have bigger smasher body. Nothing much more to say about it's design.

Technical[]

Like the Previous smashers, it suffered less knockback from projectiles. But have more knockback resistance than Mega Smasher. It fast as Smasher, it start get faster by branch.

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: Most of other tanks, sometimes another giga smasher.
  • Weak Against: Strong tanks, bosses, strong-build mega smashers, another giga smasher, arena closers.

As the Giga Smasher[]

  • Avoid Overseer's and Overlord's drones, they can kill you if they strong or in team.
  • Try attacking Smashers, you if even using weak build, can kill weak to very strong smashers.

Against the Giga Smasher[]

Please, add it.

Triviva[]

  • It stronger than Mega Smasher, but not all times.
  • It may kill the Tera Smasher, mostly Tera Smashers kill it.
  • If level 60 cap was still existed, this tank possibly be added to game.

Tera Smasher[]

The Tera Smasher is more stronger than Giga Smasher, meaning Tera Smasher can kill the Giga Smasher.

Design[]

Tera Smasher is have bigger smasher body than Giga Smasher. Anyway, it looks like other smasher branch tanks.

Technical[]

Like the Previous smashers, it suffered less knockback from projectiles. But have more knockback resistance than Giga Smasher. It faster than Giga Smasher and Smasher, it start get faster by branch.

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: All tanks except other Tera Smasher and higher than Tera Smasher.
  • Weak Against: Bosses, Arena Closers, other Tera Smashers and higher than Tera Smasher.

As the Tera Smasher[]

Please, add it.

Against the Tera Smasher[]

Please, add it.

Triviva[]

  • It have enough health, so maxed Giga Smasher have 25% chance of killing Tera Smasher.
  • The Duo: Overseer and Overlord with drones at once almost can kill Tera Smasher, leaving it at 4% of full health.
  • Level 75 is needed to upgrade on this tank. Level 75 is also Dominator's level. They both is tier 6.
