The Nightmare of All Polygons is an Event Boss in Template:C. It can spawn absolutely randomly in anywhere with polygons, and will usually appear in places with higher polygon density. Created by The Tidal Wave.

Appearance

The Nightmare of All Polygons is positively huge. It is so large that it takes up 1/4 of a standard FFA arena. It is composed of 9 circles that resemble the components of the War Machine, the thing the creator of this monstrosity intended to emulate. On the center of the large circle is a turbine that takes up most of the circle. Meanwhile, on the smaller circles are, respectively:

  1. 5 tentacles that are placed to resemble a Penta Shot. These tentacles can lengthen to any desired length and stick to anything they touch. Things that are stuck to the tentacles will receive constant damage.
  2. A chainsaw weapon.
  3. 20 auto turrets that fire in synchronized patterns.
  4. A stereo system that constantly blasts out different-sized bullets. They all do the same damage, however.
  5. A tesla coil.
  6. A grappling hook.
  7. An Annihilator barrel.
  8. 8 Battleship spawners evenly spaced out.

Attack methods

This boss is neutral to all tanks and only attacks when provoked. It entirely ignores you if you are under level 30, but you will be entirely unable to hurt it too. Polygons are it's main target, and it will stop at nothing to kill them all. The center turbine passively sucks in everything, and touching it spells instant doom. While this is alive, no polygons will spawn. Each small circle has a different attacking style, listed below:

  1. The tentacles will extend and grab a polygon each and do damage to them. If the polygon in question is an Alpha pentagon, the tentacle will "feed" the pentagon to the main turbine.
  2. The chainsaw slashes at nearby enemies.
  3. The Auto turrets fire at nearby polygons at the firing rate of a gunner.
  4. The stereo system blasts bullets that form many different shapes, mostly musical symbols. When the Nightmare has 1/8 health however, they spell words like "KILL" or "DESTROY".
  5. The tesla coil shoots lightning that pierces through everything. The lightning goes on indefinitely in a straight line.
  6. The grappling hook grabs polygons and feeds them to the turbine.
  7. The Annihilator barrel fires lasers at polygons.
  8. The Battleship spawners spawn protectors that have infinite lifespan to track down polygons. One protector can kill 3 polygons before disappearing.

Once the Nightmare's massive health pool drops below 1/4, it starts to attack tanks, its AI thinking that tanks are helping the polygons.

An important note: Anything that's polygon-related is unable to damage this. Necromancers? No. Summoner? No. Phages? No. Even the mighty power of the Polygon Disciples, their Paramarchs, or even The Storm of Fragments deals 75% reduced damage. There's a reason it's called the Nightmare of all Polygons. As for the Polygon Mother, it's unknown what interactions would occur if she were to face it one on one.

Rewards

As a tribute from the polygons to us, all tanks who did at least 1000 damage to The Nightmare of All Polygons will get (200*damage dealt) XP.

Notes

  • If this somehow manages to spawn in The Realm and the Storm of Fragments is there, it will immediately start attacking the Storm of Fragments. The Storm doesn't even try to fight back. It just runs.
  • This will NOT attack anything Sassafras-related just so Hexen gets infuriated.
