The Warden is a Tier 4 tank conceptualized by Onett4smash and contributed to by Raspbelle as part of the Defend the Center game mode. It upgrades from the Wrangler at level 45.
Design[]
The Warden has a singular Grappling Gun. It can, however, fire an unlimited number of grappling hooks from it. Its grappling hooks are diamond-shaped rather than triangular.
Technical[]
The Warden has a slow reload, but can fire an unlimited number of grappling hooks to capture enemies. Grappling onto an enemy starts a timer. After a few seconds, based on how much the Grapple Time stat has been upgraded, all grappling hooks retract and every captured enemy takes a high amount of damage, increasing with the total number of enemies captured and the Damage upgrade. The Warden's speed also decreases with an increasing number of enemies captured. The same enemy can only be grappled once.
Unlike other Grappler-branch tanks, the Warden cannot retract its grappling hooks once they are attached to enemies.
The Warden can detect cloaked enemies.
Strategy[]
- As the Warden, your goal is to grab as many enemies as possible to stack as much damage as possible. You should get yourself in a position where there are many enemies to grapple.
- As your speed decreases with a higher combo, it becomes less feasible to look for new targets to grapple.
- Although the Warden is mostly focused on taking out groups of enemies, it can deal high damage to higher health enemies and even bosses with a high combo.
- Damage upgrades are a bit more of a trade-off for the Warden; although the retract damage will be increased, so will the damage upon grapple, which can kill weaker enemies rather than grapple onto them, making getting combos more difficult.
- Later waves will have less weak enemies, making this less of an issue.
