The Shotgun is a Tier 3 tank in Diep.io. It upgrades from Machine Gun at level 30.

Design[]

The Shotgun features a Machine Gun barrel, overlapped by a shorter and wider Machine Gun-like barrel

Technical[]

The Shotgun fires 12 bullets at the same time.

  • Bullet Speed: TBA
  • Bullet Penetration: 1.2 (+0.9 for each point in Bullet Penetration)
  • Bullet Damage: 3.5 (+1.5 for each point in Bullet Damage)
  • Reload time: 60t (-5t for the 1st and 3rd point, -4t for the 2nd, 4th and 6th point, -3t for the 5th and 7th point in Reload)

Strategy[]

  • Strong Against: TBA
  • Weak Against: Anything that can attack from a distance.

As the Shotgun[]

  • Strong against unsuspecting tanks with medium to low defense upgrades.
  • Similar to tanks from the Destroyer family, with maximised stats on Movement Speed and Bullet Speed, the Shotgun can perform surprises that could significantly damage an enemy with medium-to-low defense upgrades.
  • The Shotgun pellets spread out the further it travels from the barrel, so Shotguns getting up-close to the enemy can be a strong tactic only if the enemy has low defense upgrades (especially Body Damage).

Against the Shotgun[]

  • Even if the Shotgun have maximized stats on Bullet Penetration and Bullet Damage, the pellets from the Shotgun may emit an underwhelming amount of damage on tanks with high defense upgrades.
  • Tanks from the Smasher family with maximized upgrades on Max Health, Body Damage, and Movement Speed can charge at a solo Shotgun. Devastatingly so, even if the Shotgun has maximized upgrades on Bullet Speed, Bullet Penetration, Bullet Damage, and Movement Speed, and enables Auto Fire on the charging enemy, the enemy tank will overwhelm the Shotgun.
  • Tanks with high fire power and fire rate can overpower the pellets from the Shotgun.
  • Swarms of drones such as those coming from a Battleship or smart offensive behavior from the Overseer family can overwhelm a solo Shotgun.
