Tale of Diep (ToD) is no longer under active development as a derivative of Diep.io and remains here as an archive, though spin-offs such as The Extended Tale of Diep remain active. For info on the successor to Tale of Diep, now an independent work called "A Tale Where Nothing Matters", visit its Discord server here.

Mega Fortresses are a new game mechanic that comes with The Tale of Diep. They are very similar to Fortresses, but instead of holding a Son of Panzer, they hold a Final Son. Each Mega Fortress has the same layout, but the aesthetic and enemies within vary based on which Final Son resides at the end.

There are four Mega Fortresses:

  • Marrow Citadel
  • House of Warpath
  • Starved Stronghold
  • Festering Palace

Location and Purpose

Mega Fortresses are and always have been in The Realm since the dawn of time. Four incredible structures dotting the northern lands that nobody knows the purpose of. Mega Fortresses, when the Final Sons do not inhabit them, are left open, decaying, and completely abandoned and left in ruin. They serve absolutely no purpose... that is, until the Month of Panzer.

When The Realm is loaded during a Month of Panzer, the Final Sons will spawn in simultaneously from a portal in the southeast, kind of where Somber Falls meets Shattered Coast, but a bit to the west. They will all then streak north together, quickly and looking like comets. The Final Sons rush incredibly quickly, and are invincible. Once the Final Sons reach a certain point, they will all split off and go separate ways, riding off solo to their Mega Fortresses, and slamming the gates shut once they pass through.

There are four Mega Fortresses, one for each Final Son. Two are in Wintercrest and two are in Vallard Wastes. The Harbinger's Mega Fortress, the Marrow Citadel, is located in the far northwest of Wintercrest. The Warhand's Mega Fortress, the House of Warpath, is located more in the center right of Wintercrest. The Siphon's Mega Fortress, the Starved Stronghold, is located in the northwest center-ish of Vallard Wastes. The Pestilent's Mega Fortress, the Festering Palace, is located near the very heart of Vallard Wastes, by Mt. Vallard.

Layout

Mega Fortresses are absolutely massive structures. They all have an identical layout, with their entrances positioned at the south center of the building. The layouts may be the same, but the aesthetics, colors, objects, and enemies within the Mega Fortress vary based on which one it is of course. This will be discussed later in their individual pages.

The exact layout of Mega Fortresses is soon to come, as they have become much larger and more prominent than they used to be.

Trivia

  • Name would be more creative if I put time into it, ha ha.
  • Have their own class of enemy, mentioned above, the Ethereal Guards.
