Phages are a special group of nest guardians that defend Nonagon nest. There are a large variety of them, ranging from small fighters, to large elite enemies. There is a boss version of them called the "Phage Lord". Phages are created by Ennealis as her own personal militia. These polygons are engineered in a particular way that increases their internal functional capacity, allowing them to be able to do multiple forms of attacking rather than doing one function. The behavior of Phages are much different than most other Crasher types, as many don't actually crash.
Phages can come in all shapes, many ending with a tail at the end with protrusions on the back two sides. Some have chevron cuts near the front or back end. Others are more rounded but not curved. The average phage body is generally basing off of an hour-glass shape in appearance with tapering parts near the sides or front, often the front end is blunt-edged and only pointed depending on which type. All phages share the same body color. Bullets fired from any phage will be yellow. Drones created by phages are the same color as the body.
These are small and common phage enemies that are found in areas where Nonagons are a common site or within the domain of Ennealis. Many of them have unique weapons or stat abilities. A combination of them against even powerful targets will overwhelm them if not careful.
All phages will take 33% less damage, only exception is the Exploder Phage. Phages and their respective superior forms are immune to poisoned and weakened debuffs, rendering them ineffective to be inflicted.
Fighter PhagesFighter Phages have two tiny barrels that shoot gunner bullets in a low rate. The bullets have high penetration but low damage, bullet speed is as slow as an un-upgraded tank. They move as fast as large Crashers. They can be dangerous in large numbers, they act similarly to Tank Minions, as they will encircle and fire its cannons at the desired target. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest. They are also spawned by the Nonation, and the Phage Lord. They will deal 10 HP of body damage. The Fighter Phage has 220 HP and reward 200 EXP upon destruction.
Over PhagesOver Phages have a small drone spawner at the back, it spawns tiny battleship-like drones. There is a max of 12 drones that can be spawned at once. The drones move very fast and have a short lifespan of 8 seconds. The drones have the equivalence of a battleship with 6 points of drone damage and 7 points of drone health. They also move as fast as swarm seekers. Because they are so small, they do little damage. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest, but more rarely outside. They are also spawned by the Nonation, and the Phage Lord. They will deal 10 HP of body damage. The Over Phage has 200 HP and reward 220 EXP upon destruction.
Drone PhagesDrone Phages are very similar to Crashers, however they are much larger and deal more damage. They move in a unique pattern towards their target, it appears to be a zigzag pattern. They move the same speed as small Crashers. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest, but more rarely outside. They are also spawned by the Nonation, the Phage Lord, Automers, and Bionic Pentagons. They will deal 20 HP of body damage. The Drone Phage has 130 HP and reward 180 EXP upon destruction.
Shadow PhagesShadow Phages have the ability to cloak, much like what Phasers do. The difference is that they remain cloaked even when moving. The only way to reveal them is by damaging them. When revealed they will run away, regenerate, and then cloak itself and charge at the enemy once more. They move the same speed as small Crashers. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest. They are also spawned by the Nonation, and the Phage Lord. When spawned they immediately cloak itself because it has full health. They will deal 20 HP of body damage. The Shadow Phage has 80 HP and reward 180 EXP upon destruction.
Spike PhagesSpike Phages are slow and deadly phages that have lots of body damage. They deal 60 HP in body damage. Spike Phages act like Crashers as they attempt to ram into a target, but they are extremely slow. They could mean quick death to many tanks if not paying attention. Rammers will also have to be careful since they can decrease health very fast. Using ammunition will be the best way to clear out these obstacles. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest. They are also spawned by the Nonation, and the Phage Lord. The Spike Phage has 230 HP They reward 200 EXP upon destruction.
Exploder Phages are quick kamikaze type of Phage that will detonate itself within 2 tiles near an enemy. They move in a zigzag motion when charging. These guys has the most single-hit damage of all phages, and they should be dealt with caution. When they explode, a ring of 12 tiny slow bullets are released. The bullets have medium-high penetration and high damage. Destroying an Exploder Phage will cause it to explode regardless, and can detonate nearby Thorn Mines. Rammers should immediately avoid these at all cost, and even tanks with high bullet builds must be wary of their uncanny presence. Unlike most other Phages, these do not get spawned by the Nonation. They are rarer than most other Phages inside the Nonagon Nest. Automers and Converteres may also create these. The Exploder Phage's body is more sensitive to damage, thus it isn't a very strong enemy when it comes to its health. It only has 50 HP. They reward 180 EXP upon destruction however.
Skewer PhagesSkewer Phages will leave a Phage Mine when it approaches a tank, then will charge directly into the target. Like Drone Phages, they will move in a zigzag pattern when trying to ram into the enemy. Skewer Phages will leave a thorn projectile onto the tank when collided and destroyed. The Thorn will deal 3 HP of damage per 1/2 second for 5 seconds. This adds up to an additional 30 HP of damage dealt through one thorn. Multiple thorns can be inflicted by these Phages, which can add up dangerously fast. Thorns are able to be destroyed however, so if a tank has a lot of them on it, they should use drones (if they have any), run into your team or your own traps, or run into a teammate's bullet stream. They spawn frequently in Nonagon nest. They are also spawned by the Nonation, and the Phage Lord. They will deal 16 HP of body damage. The Skewer Phage has 120 HP They reward 200 EXP upon destruction.
Phage MinesPhage Mines are a kind of ammunition that takes form of a star-like figure with four points that are thorns. They are very similar in design and mechanics to those created by Thorn Trappers. These mines have a phage-colored body with yellow thorns protruding outward from four sides. These mines are exclusive to Skewer Phages, Amnuheav Nest Defenders, and Hedge Nest Defenders. They can also be created by the Phage Lord boss.
Very similarly to how the mechanics behind the Thorn Trapper's mines, they will explode within range of any tank/enemy that gets near it. Once detonated it will release a ring of 12 tiny weak slow bullets and 4 thorns flying outward from the four sides. Thorns released by the mine will act similarly to traps in how they loose velocity over time, however they will travel much farther than traps and once stopping they vanish. Upon contact these thorns will deal 3 HP of damage per 1/2 second for 5 seconds. This adds up to an additional 30 HP of damage dealt through one thorn. Thorns will also stack on to each other if multiple ones hit the enemy.
The small ring of bullets have the same color as the mine's body. These bullets have moderate penetration and move very slowly. They will deal 6 HP of damage per hit. The ring of bullets will not last very long, only for 3 seconds.
Phage mines have 120 HP and 40% resistance to damage by default. These mines couldn't regenerate. If a phage mine is destroyed without contact they will not explode. If multiple phage mines are close enough and should one be detonated, the others will also detonate in range.
Elite Phages (Nest Defender Variants)
Elite phages are Nest Defenders. There can only be a max of 6 of them at once within a superior Nonagon Nest, the limits for them elsewhere can vary. One of them will always be the Convertere, and it will take top priority when a new one respawns. Respawn time is 4-8 minutes. Elite Phages are considered Mini-Bosses, having higher stats and damage values than their Crasher forms. If an Elite Phage has been provoked and begins attacking, there is a 33% chance for it to alarm the nearest Elite Phage in the surrounding area.
Gunfighter Elite Phage.
|HP||Weapon(s)||Attack Types||EXP||Nest Spawns|
|1,750||Gunner Cannon (4)||Bullets||5,000||Nonagon|
Gunfighters are one of six Elite Phages that defend the Nonagon Nest. It is the buffed up version of a Fighter Phage. It will spawn within the Nonagon nest and slowly drift around the near sides of it.
It has the usual Fighter Phage body shape but it has two additional gunner cannons on the front side. A metallic rod is placed on the body that leads to a small hexagonal plate with an aesthetic spike on the back.
The gunner cannons have similar stats to the Fighter Phage but with more penetration and speed. Additionally since they have two extra cannons, they have increased reload.
These enemies swiftly move around within the nest, seeking any intruders. Once it finds the target, it temporally increases speed by 40% and fires its cannons as it charges into the attacker. However its intent isn't to ram into the enemy, instead it will turn away and attempt to circle the attacker once it reaches a close enough range. Gunfighters will then move away from the target tank and will turn back towards the attacker and repeat.
The Gunfighter has 1,750 HP, it regenerates 5 HP per second by default. When left alone for over 30 seconds, it boosts regeneration by 300%. They deal 15 HP of body damage per hit. If a Gunfighter has less than 1/3 of its max HP, they will flee back into the nest to heal unless players are within the area where it regenerates.
Amnuhev Elite Phage
|HP||Weapon(s)||Attack Types||EXP||Nest Spawns|
|3,250||Auto Gunner Cannon(2), Thorn Mine Launcher||Bullets, Thorn Mines||15,000||Nonagon|
Amnuhevs are one of six Elite Phages that defend the Nonagon Nest. It is the buffed up version of a Skewer Phage. It will spawn within the Nonagon nest and slowly drift around near the center.
It has the usual Skewer Phage body buttressed with a pentagon-shaped back armor and two rods extended from one side to the front. Two heavy auto gunner cannons are positioned on the sides near the front, both facing forward. A Thorn Mine launcher is on the back of the Phage with an aesthetic spike going through it. The spike doesn't damage.
The gunner cannons will rapidly fire quick, low penetration and damage bullets that can overwhelm tanks that are in front of it, using a high DPS focused fired tank will be faced with great difficulty trying to pass through its thick stream. The cannons can swivel around slightly to aim at multiple targets, however it can't turn towards into its body.
The Phage Mine launcher will fire out a phage mine every 2.5 seconds. Each phage mine will vanish 28 seconds after being released. These phage mines are identical to those created by Skewer phages. Occasionally the launcher will produce a barrage of 3-5 phage mines, producing one with a 0.4 second delay. They will spread out more than usual during this.
Amnuhevs will often chase players, targeting ones that initially attacked it first for a short while before targeting nearby players. If it gets lured too far from the nest, they will try to flee back to safety.
The Amnuhev has 3,250 HP, it regenerates 4 HP per second by default. When left alone for over 30 seconds, it boosts regeneration by 300%. They deal 23 HP of body damage per hit. They are the second slowest elite phage, being as slow as the Guardian of the Pentagons. Amnuhevs rotate slowly, making them more vulnerable to be attacked from the sides.
Rammere Elite Phage
|HP||Weapon(s)||Attack Types||EXP||Nest Spawns|
Rammeres are one of six Elite Phages that defend the Nonagon Nest. It is the buffed up version of a Drone Phage. It will spawn within the Nonagon nest and slowly drift around the near sides of it.
It has the usual Drone Phage body with extra armor near the front sides. A metallic rod is placed behind the armor that overlaps near the center of the body.
Unlike other Elite Phages, Rammeres rely only on body damage. They act like their normal phage counterpart in behavior, as they will charge in a zigzag formation as it approaches the player. However they also have other forms of attacking which includes occasionally charging straight on with 40% more speed directly at players, or spiraling into players while sometimes hitting them from an angle. Rammeres often will cycle through each attack randomly, making them formidable enemies.
The Rammere has 2,450 HP, it regenerates 9 HP per second by default. When left alone for over 30 seconds, it boosts regeneration by 300%. They deal 45 HP of body damage per hit. Rammeres will take 15% less damage than other phages due to its armor. They move slightly slower than drone phages, however they can charge into enemies with a greater speed. If a Rammere has less than 1/3 of its max HP, they will flee back into the nest to heal, unless players are within the area where it regenerates.
Automer Elite Phage
|HP||Weapon(s)||Attack Types||EXP||Nest Spawns|
|2,250||Auto Cannon(3), Spawner (2)||Bullets, Phage Summons.||7,500||Nonagon|
Automers are one of six Elite Phages that defend the Nonagon Nest. It a combination of an Over Phage, Fighter Phage, and Exploder Phage. They spawn anywhere within the nest, only less common from the edges. They slowly drift around once spawned.
Automer Phages have a similar body shape as the Fighter Phage. Two spawners are placed on the back two sides while three modified auto cannons are placed on the front two sides, one is on the top near the center of the body. A metallic rod goes straight from both ends of the body, ending with an aesthetic spike, which doesn't inflict any form of damage.
They attack through the use of their mounted cannons and the summoning of Exploder Phages. Spawners create one minion every 4 seconds, having a max of 8 minions in total. These Exploder phages will follow the Automer and will attack on their own if a player or enemy is in range. The auto cannons on the Automer will aim and fire at nearby enemies. The top cannon has a full 360 degree rotation while the ones on the sides has a 60 degree rotation in both directions. Auto cannons will fire moderate penetration and high damage bullets, although the reload is low. Bullets shot will move very quickly, making them harder to avoid.
The Automer has 2,250 HP, it regenerates 5 HP per second by default. When left alone for over 30 seconds, it boosts regeneration by 300%. They deal 15 HP of body damage per hit. They move around 1/3 the speed of a large crasher. If an Automer has less than 1/3 of its max HP, they will flee back into the nest to heal unless players are within the area where it regenerates.
- The name origin and design of these enemies are based off of the bacteria phage. Many have a "viral" appearance and often can appear like how some viruses are portrayed to look like.
