Overveiw

Nonation is a large nonagonal boss that can withstand in the harsh conditions of Wintercrest, and being one of the only of its kind to be able to survive the undesirable conditions of Vallard Wastes, at least for a little while. As one of the two very powerful summons from Ennealis, Nonation is designed to vanquish any foe that should enter her nests. With a civil war in effect, Ennealis has decided to send her Phage army to retaliate if such attacks is deployed in her territory.

This boss is equipped with six Phage Replicator Spawners, three Mounted Tri-Shot Cannons, and three mounted Dominator Cannons on top. It can spawn many different kinds of Phages. Unlike most Polygon Bosses, Nonation can enter Vallard Wastes, for as long as it is in close proximity to Wintercrest. Phages (and Nonagons) are immune to the toxicity. The reason why they do not go far is because they are forced not to fester around creatures with terrifying properties...

Design

Nonation is a very large Nonagon with three mounted Dominator cannons are spaced out evenly on top, in a similar fashion like the Defender. The mounted Tri-Shot cannons are placed on three vertices evenly spaced. There are six Phage-Maker spawners that are placed on the other vertices.

Technical

Phage Replicator Spawners

Diep.io.Weapon PhageSpawner

Six of these minion spawners are placed around the edges of Nonation, always paired in three groups of two, each leaving an even space for the tri-shot cannons. A Phage Replicator Spawner will create a random type of Phage every 1.5 seconds. When spawned, the Phage minion will be launched outward in a similar manner how traps are like, but once reaching a distance they move on their own. There is a max total of 10 Phages per spawner, 60 Phages max for the total drone count for all the boss.

There can be certain exceptions however. During a few of Nonation's attacks, for example, Nonation may create one type of Phage that exceeds the maximum capacity, and any remaining Phages created prior to that attack would chase players for a while before despawning.

Phage Variants

There are six different kind of Phages this boss can create, here's a brief summary of each one. It's recommended to see the Nonagon Phages page to get a good idea what the stats for each phage is like in detail.

Fighter Phages:Twin-Barreled offensive phages that fire small gunner bullets against their enemies, they act similarly to factory minions in how they encircle the enemy upon command. They can be also used as a defensive measure, protecting Nonation from groups of small attackers. In large numbers, Fighter Phages can deal considerable damage. Tanks fighting groups of these might take on a bit of resistance. Don't let these guys encircle you... Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to encircle another enemy boss / group of tanks.

Diep.io.Phage Fighter

Over Phages:A Phage with a spawner on its back end, it behaves very similarly to the Fighter Phage, but rather than firing bullets, it can create a small stream of tiny Phage Partisans. They are an offensive class of Phage, often created with the Fighter Phage to amplify support. Nonation will create these and send them to attack groups of smaller, weaker tanks to disorient them and break apart the division. Over Phages will be also used to prevent quick regeneration through low-damaging drones. Over Phages are good for a constant low damage and picking off weaker units. These guys aren't too problematic if fought with a high DPS tank class. Lower reload tanks might need to be cautious.

Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to encircle another enemy boss / group of tanks.

Diep.io.Phage.Over

Drone Phages:Weaponless Phages that behave very similar to normal drones, except when targeting Tanks, they will move in a curvy zigzag motion to confuse and avoid bullets. Drone Phages are a rammer kind of minion, specifically meant to ram into the enemy like most crashers do. Nonation creates these to fight against heavy groups of tanks and also to create a protective barrier around the boss during certain attacks. By default a Drone Phage will not move in that odd pattern, they only do that while charging into the opponent. Drone Phages can be annoying to many classes including focus-fire classes like Triplet or Streamliner as well as lower reload classes. Destroy them if encountered.

Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to attack another enemy boss / group of tanks. As well as defending itself.

Diep.io.Phage.Drone

Shadow Phages:Stealthy Phages that will cloak themselves, rendering them invisible even while targeting an enemy. Shadow Phages are like Drone Phages in how they attack an enemy through body damage. Unlike Drone Phages, they do not move in a zigzag motion, instead it will move in a straight line directly towards the target. The only way to reveal them is to damage them. Nonaton creates these to ambush high DPS tanks like Penta-shots or Sprayers. Often surprising them with damaging consequences. Shadow Phages are probably one of the most lethal variant because of its sneaky nature. A good method of revealing them is using a Spread-shot class of Tank. Low reload types of tanks will be more in danger for these.

Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to ambush another enemy boss / group of tanks.

Diep.io.Phage.Shadow

Spike Phages:Slow, strong defensive Phages that has a lot of HP and body damage. They act like normal Crashers, however they move very slow compared to the other Phages. Spike Phages are a genuine threat to Tanks, especially ramming builds. They don't have too much of a complex behavior, making them easy to avoid. Don't be fooled though, letting one of these collide into a max HP Tank will damage it severely. Nonation created these to distract and create obstacles around itself to cause more chaos into the already frantic battle. These Phages are also used to breach outer defenses of certain stronger enemies. Use ammunition to kill these guys, don't even try to ram into them.

Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to breach defenses and create obstacles during battle, sometimes attacking directly another enemy boss / group of tanks.

Diep.io.Phage.Spike

Skewer Phages:Resilient minions that has a unique and menacing method to deal quite the damage to Tanks and other enemies. They act very akin to the Drone Phage in how it will zigzags around to disorient foes. When approaching it, the Skewer Phage will leave behind a mine. Should approaching the mine will activate it and will explode, four thorns fly out and 16 tiny damaging bullets increases the pain. When colliding into the Skewer Phage, it will leave behind a thorn on the enemy, dealing DOT for a short while. Careful, thorns can stack up damage if multiple of them are placed. Nonation will create these for mainly offensive and defensive purposes. They can be used to raid the enemy and interrupt it's path way with these thorny obstacles. These may also be used as a defensive method to strategically place mines around the boss to block/prevent tanks form getting nearby. If encountered, destroy at all cost...

Each spawner has a 1/6 chance of spawning these by normal standards. In certain attacks, Nonation may only produce these and send them out to attack another enemy boss / group of tanks, or to create many hazards around the boss to keep off intruders.

Diep.io.Phage Skewer

Mounted Dominator Turrets

Diep.io.Weapon DominatorCannon

Each cannon has a 360 degree rotation, it has a large visibility range of 70 tiles in radius. It launches a single bullet that does massive damage to unsuspecting tanks. The bullets are large and move slowly, they have very high penetration and deals 45 HP of damage by default. The cannon will fire every 5 seconds. Tanks should avoid these large slow bullets. In certain attacks, Nonation will fire a volley of bullets that can cause mass casualties.

Mounted Tri-Shot Cannons

Diep.io.Weapon Nonation Tri-Shot

Each cannon has a 60 degree rotation on each side of it, it can not turn towards the body. It has a large visibility range of 80 tiles in radius. There are three tri-shot cannons placed on three sides on Nonation. These cannons will swivel around, aim, and fire at groups of tanks. All barrels fire simultaneously, creating a slight wave. Unlike the Tri-Shot Tank class, side barrels are not 90 degrees apart. Each one is 30 degrees apart from the central cannon. This creates a more shallower and harder to avoid bullet stream. The cannon fires every 3 seconds. Bullets are slightly smaller than a normal level 45 Tanks's. They have medium-high penetration, and high damage. The bullets fired move quickly.

Attacks/Behavior

Nonation can choose a few different kinds of attacks, mostly based on its minions. The boss itself can not control each individual Phage, but it can direct them to targets. Many attacks are purely based on the use of its minions for different purposes. When the boss first spawns, it creates a random Phage type, often making it a diverse mixture of all kinds when first encountered.

Nonation's "normal" state is where all cannons attack tanks like most bosses would do, and spawn many different page types normally. Even in this state, it is still very risky to fight alone. After certain number of Phages spawned by Nonation are killed, it begins choosing specific attacks. It moves around slowly and follows its main enemies, only turning back once leaving Wintercrest, or entering too deep into Vallard Wastes.

Nonation has two phases, both are very similar as the boss doesn't change in appearance. Only differences are the passive stat boost with resistance, faster spawning time, and stronger attacks. Nonation enters Phase 2 when it reaches 5,000 HP.

Phase 1

There is one attack that is often used between other attacks mentioned above. Nonation switches to its normal state for 8 - 45 seconds after each attack

  • Volley: The top Dominator turrets aim at a group of tanks. They fire two bullets with a 0.5 second delay, still following the overall duration of the reload (5 seconds). The bullets spread a little more than usual, which can be harder to avoid. This attack will last for two full cycles of the Dominator cannons reloading, thus only creating two volleys each time. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Triplet-Pulse: The tri-shot cannons will rapidly fire three waves of bullets with a 0.2 second delay. The bullets increases speed by 30%. Like the Volley attack, they follow the over all duration of the base reload of the cannons (3 seconds). The cannon will adjust very slightly each time the three bullets are fired, making more of a spread than usual, hitting more targets. These cannons will fire during the attack even if there isn't any tanks in range. This attack will last for three full cycles of the tri-shot cannons reloading, only creating three quick pulses. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Fighter Raid: Nonation begins producing only Fighter and Over Phages equally. Replicators will create Phages twice as fast. Other Phages that were spawned prior will be sent out to attack tanks until all have been killed. This attack has two parts, part one is where it is transitioning its normal random Phage spawning. The newer Phages crated by Nonation will encircle the boss, and only retaliating if shot. If none of the prior minions were killed in time, they immediately despawn, allowing Nonation to create the rest of them. Once 60 are created, part two of the attack begins. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
    • Fighter Raid (Part 2): Nonation then send the swarm as a group directed towards another group of strong tanks. If there is only three or less tanks fighting the boss, it will hold its attack until more come. If however it persists for too long, it will send the swarm to attack regardless. During the whole attack, other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Drone Rain: Nonation only produces Drone Phages and Over Phages equally. Replicators will create Phages twice as fast. Phages that were spawned prior will be sent out to attack tanks until all have been killed.
    • Drone Rain (Part 2): Nonation then send the swarm as a group directed towards another group of strong tanks. If there is only three or less tanks fighting the boss, it will hold its attack until more come. If however it persists for too long, it will send the swarm to attack regardless. During the whole attack, other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Shadow Storm: Nonation only produces Shadow Phages for the entire duration of the attack. It does not direct them to any specific targets. Other Phages prior that are still around will not be replaced by a random type during this attack.
  • Shield of Teal: Nonation only produces Drone Phages and will send them to encircle the boss itself to protect it. Phages that were spawned prior will be sent out to attack tanks until all have been killed. If none of the prior minions were killed in time, they immediately despawn, allowing Nonation to create the rest of them. Once at least 60 are created, Nonation will then suddenly expand the encirclement outward like a ring. If Drone Phages apart of the ring were killed, Nonation respawns them as the ring expands. After 20 seconds of slow expansion, the Drone Phages are set loose, which marks the end of this attack. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Spike Storm: Nonation only produces Spike Phages for the entire duration of the attack. It does not direct them to any specific targets. Other Phages prior that are still around will not be replaced by a random type during this attack.
  • Viral Empowerment: Nonation begins to glow a bright cyan as it increases speed by 20%, becomes Frenzy, and Armored for the next 12 seconds. It continues in its normal behavior but with increased fire rate and damage among its Ammunition. Phages spawned will have 33% increased HP. This attack is used each time it looses a third of its HP prior to Phase 2, and used indefinitely if within an area other than Wintercrest, forcing players to stay inside the region.

Phase 2

Upon reaching 5,000 HP, Nonation initiates Phase 2, where it basically attacks with 10% increased respawn speed, and damage resistance goes up to 50% for as long as it is below 5,000 HP. Otherwise it behaves exactly the same. Additionally Nonation can regenerate back to Phase 1 if left along long enough. Nonation only gains a few attacks at this Phase.

Just like Phase 1, Nonation will revert to its normal behavior after it uses attacks. One key difference in Phase 2 is that it goes through attacks faster.

Nonation switches to its normal state for 8 - 35 seconds after each attack

  • Puncture: Nonation only produces Skewer Phages for the entire duration of the attack.
    • Puncture(Part 2): Nonation then send the swarm as a group directed towards another group of strong tanks. If there is only three or less tanks fighting the boss, it will hold its attack until more come. If however it persists for too long, it will send the swarm to attack regardless. During the whole attack, other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Triplet-Pulse II: Replaces the original attack for as long as Nonation is below 5,000 HP, the tri-shot cannons will rapidly fire six waves of bullets with a 0.15 second delay. The bullets increases speed by 45%. Like the Volley attack, they follow the over all duration of the base reload of the cannons (2.5 seconds). The cannon will adjust very slightly each time the three bullets are fired, making more of a spread than usual, hitting more targets. These cannons will fire during the attack even if there isn't any tanks in range. This attack will last for three full cycles of the tri-shot cannons reloading, only creating six quick pulses. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Volley II: Replaces the original attack for as long as Nonation is below 5,000 HP, the top Dominator turrets aim at a group of tanks. They fire three bullets with a 0.5 second delay, still following the overall duration of the reload (5 seconds). The bullets spread a little more than usual, which can be harder to avoid. This attack will last for two full cycles of the Dominator cannons reloading, thus only creating two volleys each time. Other weapons will target tanks as usual.
  • Breakout: Nonation's Phage Replicators begins to spawn only Spike Phages and firing them like bullets at the nearest players. Said Phages will also move faster than normally once being spawned, slowing down gradually as it begins to move on its own. Replicators will create Phages twice as fast. The attack will last until a total of 60 Spike Phages were created. This means if none of the preexisting Phages were killed, the Nonation will not cancel the attack. This can become hazardous for both the high damage of the Spike phage and the surprise it may impose on players.
  • Rimeshot: Any ammunition fired by Nonation (excluding those created by Phages) will have a 66% chance of inflicting Slowed and Weakened. Bullets will appear to make an icy trail behind them once fired.

More to be added later.
