Dr. Lacus has kidnapped a whole group of innocent Tank Empire citizens and forced them to his personal arena. And now he has revealed his new dark technology... using the memories of his captives, Dr. Lacus can project a shadow copy of any of the Gladiator Bosses he wishes, at any time!


Shadow of the Gladiator is an Event Gamemode that will always be available to a person after they have survived their first run of Mad Science and have lived to see each Gladiator Boss killed at least one time. It is similar to Boss Frenzy except for a bit of extra gimmicks.


  • All players belong to the Blue Team.
  • All players spawn in at Level 1.
  • Players can re-enter the game if killed.
  • Costs 1 Panzer Token to enter each run.
    • Respawning after entering is free, but refreshing or changing game modes will count as having to re-pay to enter.
  • There is a counter to the left of the scoreboard starting at 1000 inside of a black box. The text is red.
    • Every time something dies, the counter goes down a certain number.
      • Every Yellow Square killed will reduce the counter by 1.
      • Every Red Triangle killed will reduce the counter by 5.
      • Every Blue Pentagon killed will reduce the counter by 10.
      • Every Green variant of the above mentioned will reduce the counter by 20x their amount.
      • Every Alpha Pentagon killed will reduce the counter by 50.
      • Every Crasher killed will reduce the counter by 2.
      • Every enemy (such as Clone Drones, Punchers, Tears of Panzer, etc.) killed will reduce the counter by 5. Clone Drone clones do not reduce the counter.
    • Once the counter hits 0, a completely jet black version of a random Gladiator Boss will spawn at the center of the map (unless its shadow Overdrive, where he will spawn at one of the corners). The counter will return to 1000.
  • Once a shadow Gladiator Boss is killed, it is removed from the spawn pool. This means you will not fight a Shadow Gladiator more than once.
    • Once all Shadow Gladiator variants have been beaten, the game mode ends.
    • Losing to Overdrive in his race will make him despawn and he will be re-added to the spawn pool.
    • All Shadow Gladiators drop the same rewards as their regular variants.
      • This makes Shadow of the Gladiator a very profitable game mode, as you will almost always make the 1 Panzer Token spent, back.
  • The game ends when all shadow variants of the Gladiator Bosses have been killed. There is no difference between them and their regular variants except the perfectly black pallet. This change is purely for the lore.
