For the moment at least Wiki Updates are back on track! Hopefully this’ll be just the beginning of continued regular Wus & Sandboxes, but that depends largely on the activity of other Staff members.

Without further ado, let’s finally get back into the news ;)

Event News

Latest Sandbox[]

Last Saturday, there was a small Sandbox that took place. The main problem with this Sandbox was the absence of Senior Administrators, due to scheduling conflicts. Luckily, Moderators were able to ensure that it proceeded smoothly, the recap of which is covered in lower topics.

A New Wordmark[]

Over the past couple of weeks, Banarama has been working on a new wordmark design to provide a permanent logo for our wiki. He’s currently working on a couple new versions that will eventually be implemented in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming Community Vote regarding it!

Templates — Main Page & Fanon[]

A new right column template is planned for the Main Page, drawing attention to the Site Policies. For the time being, the welcome module serves as a link to Project:General Policies. Additionally, the {{Adopted}} template can now display the original author of a conception.

Next Sandbox time[]

The next Sandbox is scheduled for 15:00-17:00 UTC (11 AM – 1PM Eastern Time), on June 23rd, 2018, which is a Saturday. We hope to see many more people there, and the presence of a Senior Administrator is assured!

New Discussions Guidelines (/d/g)[]

Ursuul, DroneDestroyer, and Fallen Fighter 123 worked on amending the Discussions Guidelines in order to address recent problems with overposting in Discussions. A standard of quality has been established, & chatters are encouraged to go to Chat or the Wiki Discord for such things.

FANDOM News

Rest in RIP in darkness my old friend, Monobook is kill[]

FANDOM recently announced that the Monobook skin will be removed from the network as a skin option on Friday the 25th. This will be done in order to ensure that FANDOM complies with new EU regulations regarding privacy; subsequently, FANDOM has updated their Terms of Use in addition to their privacy policy. The new versions of both can be read here and here.

What does this mean for us?
It means that all Monobook development will cease and all planned documentation pages regarding Monobook are now cancelled. Several template types will be modified in order to cut away Monobook-specific functionality and simplify their code in general, causing all Monobook template links to revert to normal links.
